White is what you want to wear this summer

White is the colour you absolutely must have in your wardrobe this summer, and it is all over the catwalks this season.

If you can only afford one item make it a sundress. You can team it with lots of accessories and clothes, with no worries about anything clashing. The colour’s timeless and it will be a staple in your wardrobe for years to come, especially during the summer.

My first recommendation is a cute halter-neck dress from asos.com (left). The buttons running down the back make it feel particularly summery, and the light material will keep you cool.

Topshop also have a beautiful sundress for £28. The shape is perfect, and the tie up bow at the back gives it a girlie feel. The straps are adjustable so it can fit your figure perfectly, without you having to reach for a needle and thread. | Photo: Topshop

As well as Topshop’s sundress (right), you could also buy a pair of their white linen shorts. They’re perfect for lazy summer days and should be the first thing you put in your suitcase.

They have got the shape perfect, and they bring a chic feel to a summer necessity. The length and style are flattering, and the buttons echo a nautical trend that won’t budge. For £22 you get a wide range of options.

To finish things off, go to River Island and buy their white quilted shopper for £30. The design comes in many colours, but the white one shouts beach.

It resembles a classic Chanel design, and considering Coco herself started the trend of wearing white with a tan it couldn’t be more appropriate!
