It’s time again for the Radio 1 team to take over a UK city for their annual free music festival The Big Weekend, and this year it will take place in Bangor, Wales.

Known for being one of the smallest cities in Britain, this is the biggest live music event ever to take place in the humble university city.

Headlining the two day extravaganza are Florence And The Machine on the Saturday and Rihanna on Sunday. Florence was also a part of last year’s festival in Swindon, but has since risen to such fame that she is topping the bill.

Joining Florence on the main stage include some huge names:  Dizzee Rascal, Cheryl Cole, Scouting For Girls, and Justin Bieber. The sub-headliner of Dizzee has led to rumours that he and Florence will perform their duet “You Got The Dirty Love”.

Rihanna is joined on Sunday by Biffy Clyro, Ke$ha, JLS, and Paulo Nutini amongst others. The main stage is very much the cream of Radio 1’s playlist and the mix of genres should make for a fantastic experience.

The line-up for the In New Music We Trust is equally as impressive. Acts across both days include Faithless, MGMT, Bombay Bicycle Club, Vampire Weekend, Plan B, and Delphic.

The festival takes place on the weekend of May 22nd – 23rd and tickets are free. To get your hands on a ticket head over to the Radio 1 website and register.
