“I definitely want to finish above my brother and take his place if I can.” The competitive side of last season’s top scorer Tom Garrick is more prominent than ever as he returns to Lincoln United following time out in America.

His brother Ben Garrick is currently United’s joint top scorer, alongside Jordan Hempenstall. But this is something that Tom is hoping he can change.

With there being over 3,000 miles between the United Kingdom and the USA, Garrick definitely didn’t land there by accident. At the age of 18, the Lincoln United forward had previously spent a year in America taking a football scholarship.

This time round, Garrick’s visit to the States saw him take on a slightly different role to the one he’s used to in Lincoln: “I have been out there before but this time it was a bit different. I was only coaching so I wasn’t playing; bit of a role change but it was definitely good.

He continued: “I got a good insight to what coaching is and helping obviously younger people out it was a good opportunity and a good thing to do.”

Following Lincoln United’s 1-1 draw, at home to Stamford, Garrick spoke to The Linc about how it felt to be back at the club.
