As of the 18th November, Hyde Park will be home to Winter Wonderland for the 10th year running. And it’s bound to be bigger and better than ever! Grab yourself some mulled wine and tuck into a hog roast while you explore all that this wonderful event has to offer. Expect to see rides, an ice rink, an ice kingdom and a circus, as well as an abundance of stalls – it sure is a good time to get your Christmas shopping underway!

Fancy some cocktails with a festive twist? Head over to London’s Icebar, where the walls, bar, tables and glasses are made entirely from ice. On your arrival, you’ll be given a cape and gloves to keep you toasty while you enjoy your 40-minute slot in the bar. To avoid disappointment, we’d suggest that you book in advance.

Just in case you needed another excuse to get merry this Christmas, there’s a bar crawl with a twist coming to the capital city. Expect to see floods of Santas skipping from bar to bar as they drink the night away. Sounds ho-larious to us!

Nothing quite screams Christmas like a trip to the pantomime, even if you are supposed to be an ‘adult’ now. For us Brits, the pantomime is as much a tradition as Brussel sprouts or mulled wine, and what better show to go and see than Cinderella? The magic-filled story will have you feeling like a care-free tot again. Be sure to book in advance as tickets will sell quickly.

When? December 9 – January 15
Where? London Palladium

If you’re into running – or if you just fancy dressing up as Santa and having a stroll through London – why not join hundreds of Santas on a charity 6k fun run? All you need to do is register online and then collect your Santa outfit on the day. Think of it this way: the more running, the more mince pies – am I right or am I right?

When? December 3
Where? Battersea Park

Window shopping

Last but by no means least, London’s biggest stores will have you in awe at their festive window displays this Christmas. Harrods, Selfridges, Liberty London, Harvey Nichols and John Lewis have taken window shopping to a whole new level, which is certainly good news for us students. Expect to see fairy lights aplenty, glitter by the tonne, and some heartfelt scenes – it’s definitely worth a trip!
