The 16th annual Lincoln Sausage Festival took place at the Castle grounds today, with the weather peaking at 25 °C.

The event included over 50 stalls selling different types of sausages, live cooking demonstrations and comedic performances from The Cosmic Sausages and Juggling Jim- as well as the children’s marquee aimed at families.

Local chef and demonstrator Rachel Green, who has been coming to the festival for over ten years, said:

“It’s been manic today, I’d say over 10,000 people have come and I think it has been busier this year because of the weather.

“I’ve been speaking to people from Shropshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire so it isn’t just Lincolnshire people who come, it draws in people from surrounding counties and that’s such a good thing for tourism in Lincoln.

“I think people can really relate to the sausage festival in Lincoln. I’m really proud to be in the castle grounds today it’s just amazing.”

The festival was organised by the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia in association with Lincolnshire County Council and is hosted on the second week of October each year.
