The 2021/22 season is just around the corner and Lincoln City have been pragmatic, leaving fans hungry to get their campaign underway. So, who exactly have Lincoln snatched up?

Lasse Sørensen

Sørensen, just 21 is a fresh faced Danish international who has signed a long-term contract with the Imps for an undisclosed fee.

The Danish maestro plays in midfield and caught the eye of Stoke City after starting his youth career at Esbjerg fB, leading them to sign him in 2016. Sørensen made 8 appearances for Stoke at just 18, impressing manager at the time Paul Lambert in the u23 side.

He stands 6ft tall and will be looking to break into the side, hoping to bring vehemence to Lincoln’s midfield this season.

Chris Maguire

Maguire might be overlooked due to his age, but at 32 he is a hardened forward with plenty of experience. He has played for the likes of Aberdeen, Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford United and Sunderland, scoring 85 career goals in total.

Maguire signs for an undisclosed fee. This is the third time Michael Appleton has signed Maguire during his managerial career after signing him for Portsmouth, Oxford United and now for Lincoln City.

Appleton was delighted with signing the Scottish international, telling the club website, “He is a leader who brings some real knowhow, he will really help the young players in the group and help bring a balance to the squad.”

He will wear the number 10 shirt that was held by the now departed midfield catalyst Jorge Grant.

Hakeeb Adelakun

Adelakun started his career with the West Ham and Crystal Palace youth academies before being spotted and signed by Scunthorpe United. He made 139 appearances for Scunthorpe, scoring 16 goals until Bristol City captured him when his contract expired.

The Nigerian winger had a few loan spells including one at Hull City last season where he scored 3 goals in 14 appearances, helping the Tigers to the League One title.

Manager Michael Appleton told the club website, “Hakeeb is a talented winger who has good experience at League One. He is a pacy and creative player, and a good addition to our attacking options.”

Teddy Bishop

Another addition to the Imps’ midfield, Bishop signs for Lincoln City from Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee. Ipswich are a club he has been associated with for 17 years since he joined their youth academy in 2004, at the age of just eight years old.

The 25-year-old might not be a relentless goal scorer, with only 5 in his 132 appearances for Ipswich, but he is a paragon of an intrepid midfielder who is not afraid to press with the ball.

Bishop told the club website, “You only have to look at last season to see the club is going places and I want to be a part of that.”

“I am a creative midfielder; I like to drive the ball and take people on – hopefully, I will excite the fans”

Michael Appleton’s side have taken full advantage of the loan market, bringing in young players from sides with established academy set ups.

Dan Nlundulu – Season long loan

Nlundulu will join the Imps on loan from Southampton. The 22-year-old has proven himself to be a powerful young forward, earning a new year 3-year contract with Southampton before being immediately loaned out.

He told the club, “I can bring strength and drive with the ball and I’m looking forward to showing Lincoln fans what I can do.”

Director of football Jez George said, “Dan has been a top target for us throughout the summer and we are really pleased to add him to the squad.”

Nlundulu will take the number 20 shirt worn by Brennan Johnson, who flourished on loan from Nottingham Forest last season. Fans would be delighted if he can replicate just some of what Johnson offered.

Lincoln City have signed Dan Nlundulu on a loan deal from Southampton ahead of the 2021/22 EFL Sky Bet League One season.

Lewis Fiorini – Season long loan

Although Fiorini is just on loan at the Imps but he has the potential to have an enormous impact this season. The talented 19-year-old Scot is on loan from Manchester City and has been with the club since he was 6 years old.

He recently stated, “I’ve spoken with the manager. His plans along with Lincoln’s ideas really seem to suit me and I cannot wait to get going.”

Josh Griffiths – Season long loan

On loan from West Bromwich Albion, Griffiths is an exciting England u21 goalkeeper. He will be looking to further his career after a successful loan at Cheltenham last season, during which he won the clubs Young Player of the Season award, helping the Robbins to promotion.

Griffiths will be hoping to follow on from the performances of fellow Baggies’ loanee Alex Palmer, who blossomed in goal for the Imps last season.

He told the club, “My first aim for this season is to play as many games as possible. As a club there has to be an aim to win as many games as possible.”
