Plans to freeze tuition fees at £9,250 and raise the repayment threshold to £25,000 have been announced by Theresa May, ahead of a speech at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester later today.

Student loan interest rate at 0%

The government has set the interest rate on student loans to 0%, disconnecting it from the rate of inflation. This means deflation will not reduce the amount students have to pay back.
