Students, staff and visitors at the University of Lincoln will soon see a 25% reduction in parking fees at the NCP Multi Storey Car Park, at the rear of Wigford House/British Heart Foundation (Brayford Street).
The 25% discount will be introduced from Monday, June 8 at 9am. A ticket machine used in this scheme will be installed on campus, inside the Engine Shed on the ground floor (Tower Bar).
In order to get the discount, drivers should collect their ticket from the barrier at the NCP car park as usual. When they are ready to return to the car park and pay, they should first go to the Engine Shed and validate their ticket at the machine there.
The new parking costs for students and staff at the NCP Multi Storey Car Park are:
- One hour – £1.40 (was £1.80)
- Two hours – £2.60 (was £3.40)
- Four hours – £3.60 (was £4.80)
- Six hours – £4.20 (was £5.50)
- Six to 24 hours – £5.10 (was £6.70)
It is unclear so far whether the opening times of the Tower Bar will affect drivers who will use the parking during nights, when the venue closes early. The university said: “opening times should not be an issue. The NCP car park is open from 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday, whereas the validation machine will be available whenever the Engine Shed is open (ie. beyond 7pm).”
This is the first move from the University of Lincoln to offer parking deals for its students. The university’s main car park cannot be used by students before 4.30pm as it requires a parking permit and is used mainly for staff. Free for all car parking is available only between 4.30pm and 3am on weekdays and all day during weekends.
Is this machine still there? I’ve been at the university since September and nobody mentioned it.
