There’s a murder mystery with a sunny twist happening in Lincoln, when “Inside Job” plays the Lincoln Theatre Royal from Tuesday, June 1st, to Saturday, June 5th.

The thriller marks the end of three repertory shows directed by Ian Dickens, the theatre’s artistic director and CEO, and promises to be a gripping event.

The show stars Christopher Villiers and Matt Healy of “Emmerdale” fame, and is set in the holiday destination of Costa Del Sol. It follows a professional thief enjoying a hedonistic lifestyle, until a female interest approaches him with an offer he can’t refuse.

Reluctant to give the plot away, Villiers did say that the show will have the audience guessing until the end: “There are three suspects, a large bag of diamonds, and a gun. The audience begin thinking one thing, and then it turns on its head over and over again.”

Guaranteeing “no sex, a little violence, and one shooting”, he describes his character, Alan, as speaking “very poor spanish” which will provide “tremendously good entertainment for all”.

Taking a break from the silver screen to hit the theatrical stage, Villiers explained that working with his previous co-star makes the experience far more enjoyable: “I know Matt very well and we jumped at the chance to do a play together.

“We get on very well and it’s much more fun to do a play with someone you like, than with someone you can’t stand. If we’re having fun on stage, the audience will have fun too.”

“Inside Job” plays the Lincoln Theatre Royal on Tuesday, June 1st until Saturday, June 5th. Tickets cost £14.50, £12.50, and £10.50, with all matinee shows priced £10.00. For more information, visit the theatre’s website.
