Lincoln City picked up their first point on the road since the middle of August after a well-fought 2-2 draw in an entertaining game against Wycombe Wanderers.

The home side went ahead twice in the first half, with Kevin Betsy and Scott Davies grabbing the goals. Mustapha Carayol equalised first for the Imps before Ben Hutchinson’s second half goal pegged Gary Waddock’s side back again.

Despite the result, Lincoln drop to 22nd in the League Two table and sit level on points with Hereford who currently occupy the second relegation spot.

City manager Steve Tilson introduced two of his four loan signings to the starting line-up. Arsenal loanee Gavin Hoyte replaced Cian Hughton to start at right back while Luke Howell, brought in from the MK Dons, came in for Scott Kerr to partner Clark Keltie in central midfield. Ashley Grimes and Josh Gowling had to make do with a place on the bench.

It may only be a point but Tilson is likely to see the positives for his side in the scoreline. Prior to today, City had only scored in one of their last seven games so the feat of scoring two goals against one of the league’s top teams should not be underestimated.

Next up for Lincoln City is a mouthwatering match at home to fellow strugglers Northampton Town who beat Gillingham 2-1 today to go above the Imps in the table.
