Lincoln City’s League Two fixture again Oxford United has been called off due to snow and public safety concerns.

The area around Sincil Bank has remained treacherous, making access to the stadium difficult.

Imps fans were asked to help clear the pitch of snow yesterday, but to no avail as a subsequent pitch inspection today confirmed that Sincil Bank’s playing surface is unplayable.

It has been a far from ideal situation for City boss Steve Tilson, who has had to make emergency arrangements for training sessions this week.

He said: “We’ve been [training] in a few sports halls and we trained at Scunthorpe’s training ground yesterday, inside on a 3G. It’s not ideal, but we’ve got to do the best we can, and that is the best we can do.

“The training ground is still completely covered with snow and at the main ground, three quarters is covered in snow, and just today we’ve been able to get on a third of the astro turf [to train]. It’s not been great preparation to be honest, but the lads have worked hard in what we’ve done.”

No decision has yet been made for Tuesday’s FA Cup replay with Hereford at Sincil Bank.
