Lincoln City have confirmed the signing of Reading full-back Julian Kelly on a month’s loan.
A product of Arsenal’s youth system, Kelly is capable of playing at both right and left back and made his first appearance for the Royals in a Carling Cup tie against Dagenham & Redbridge in 2008.
He went on to make a total of seven appearances for the Championship side before picking up a shoulder injury at the start of the 2009-2010 season. He finished last season on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, for whom he turned out nine times, but couldn’t help the club avoid relegation to the Football League’s basement division.
He has made just one appearance for Reading this season, being part of the team that were knocked out of the Carling Cup on penalties by the Imps’ League Two rivals Northampton Town. He only managed to complete 50 minutes of that match after picking up an injury.
Kelly and Wycombe will be reunited on Saturday as the defender is sure to go straight into Steve Tilson’s matchday squad for the game against one of the division’s high-fliers. City boss Tilson will be pleased to have bolstered his defensive options, with injuries leaving him with a depleted squad ahead of a hectic next few weeks.
