Lincoln City finished with ten men but picked up a battling point away at fellow mid-table side Macclesfield Town.

On-loan defender Stephen Hunt gave the Imps the lead after 20 minutes and the away side held onto that lead until half time.

On the hour mark though, Ben Hutchinson saw red for City after picking up a second yellow card for fouling Nat Brown. The inevitable onslaught came from Macclesfield, but Lincoln’s backline stayed strong – until injury time when Sam Wedgbury saved a point for the Silkmen.

City manager Steve Tilson named an unchanged side from the weekend win over his old club Southend United, but Luke Howell had regained fitness and so secured his place on the Lincoln bench.

The result leaves Lincoln still four points shy of Tilson’s 50-point target, but the Imps are still 12 points above the drop zone in 14th position in League Two.

Next up for City is a trip to play-off hopefuls Stevenage at the weekend where Tilson’s team will have the chance to climb into the top half of the table.
