When Dom Joly was told that his agent had booked him a 70 date stand up tour all across the country, his first reaction was shock. Joly says: “I just didn’t know what to do… and then I realised that was the point.”

Before appearing on “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”, Joly’s career was going from strength to strength with a book, film and TV deal.
However, after being in the jungle in 2010 as well as the popular face of “Trigger Happy TV”, he’s unsure whether people actually know who he really is or not. “I just assume everyone knows me, so that they know what’s me mucking about, like the jungle, and me being serious – like the book. But of course I forget they haven’t got a clue who you are. They know you by your public image.” Joly said.

“So the message of this show is simple – I’m not a shouty person. I’m misunderstood,” he said.

Even comedian Jimmy Carr described Joly as “the comedian, who in a room of 300 people, is facing the wrong direction”.

The “Trigger Happy TV” star even admits that he is no comedian. “Everyone assumes I’m a comedian. I’ve never done any stand up. My big fear in life is public speaking and stand up!”

This show will certainly not be one to miss as Joly tries to work out what he actually does, guided by a fascinating collection of his 10,000 holiday photographs. “If you went to school with Osama Bin Laden, pranked Michael Portillo, worked in Prague for the European Union, caught crocodiles in Australia and got drunk on TV in Moscow, Miami and Mexico, you’re going to have stories,” Joly explained.

Joly’s tour “Welcome to Wherever I am” comes to the Lincoln Drill Hall on Thursday, June 23rd. Visit the website www.lincolndrillhall.com for more information.
