Film making talent in Lincolnshire is set to be showcased at an upcoming night at the Lincoln Drill Hall, with video submissions being accepted for the event.
Lincoln Shorts takes place on July 21st and aims to display a wide variety of videos, all under five minutes.
Tim Johns, the organiser of the event, explained: “We’re looking for any type of video – be it if you’re a professional film maker, we’re screening materials that have been at film festivals, or if you’re just a video blogger with a webcam in your room and you’ve got something short that could interest other people.”
“So long as it’s been made in Lincolnshire, or made by a Lincolnshire person, as long as it’s got a good Lincolnshire connection, we’re looking to screen it,” he said.
One of the goals of the night is to introduce people to videos that are being made on their doorstep, but that they weren’t aware of before.
“There’s a gang from the University of Lincoln who are essentially YouTube superstars, and you might be famous on YouTube but that doesn’t mean you’re famous in Lincolnshire, so most of the people who might go to a cultural night at the Drill Hall will not have seen any of their material.”
As well as funny shorts, other things being shown include drama and factual shorts as well as music videos, one of which was filmed in Lincoln by a group of graduates from the university.
Although many videos have already been selected for the first night, submissions are still open and further events could take place in the future.
“If it goes well and enough people turn out, it’ll be an ongoing night – so it’s never too late to get in touch and submit videos. It’s very easy, just go to LincolnShorts.co.uk, click submit, and send us a link.”
Tickets for Lincoln Shorts cost £5 and can be purchased on the Drill Hall website.
