Currently working on their 5th album, the Pigeon Detectives are back!
Since they started their band back in 2004, in Rothwell, Leeds, The Pigeon Detectives have become more and more popular, releasing 4 albums and performing at top festivals such as Reading, Leeds and Glastonbury. They were labelled as “the band most likely to leap to the main stage” after playing at the Leeds festival back in 2007. Since then, they have never looked back.
Unlike most bands you will see nowadays, The Pigeons are unsigned so they do not have a record label that helps them out with all their advertising. They rely on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to spread information and make sales. They have also been touring all around the world in order to promote themselves and their albums, including places such as the UK, New York, Northern Europe and Russia. Because of this, their fan base increased a significant amount.
The last album they released, “We Met at Sea”, was different from the 3 previous ones. They went back to basics and recorded it back in their hometown of Leeds. After releasing the album on the April 29th, 2013, they received mostly negative feedback from critics. Proving that they haven’t lost their touch, they are now back to record their 5th album. What better way to help them get back on their feet, than having them perform live at the Engine Shed on Saturday, October 11th!
