An 18-year-old University of Lincoln student died in the early hours of this morning.
The student from the Manchester area was believed to have been spending the evening with friends in Danesgate House on Grantham Street, Lincoln.
An ambulance was called at 3:30am this morning, and the teenager was taken to Lincoln County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Lincolnshire Police are currently investigating and his death is being treated as unexplained until a post-mortem examination takes place.
Detective Inspector Suzanne Davies said: “This tragic event is presently unexplained and we need to find out exactly what happened to this young man. His family are looking for and deserve answers to their questions.”
A spokesperson from the university said: “The University of Lincoln is extremely saddened to hear of the sudden death of one of our students last night. The University’s Student Support Service is on hand to provide support, including a confidential counselling service, to any students affected by this tragic loss.”
“Our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends at this very sad time.”
