Lincoln City keeper Paul Farman had the misfortune of catching a swan after going fishing.
Farman revealed his bizarre story at the club’s press conference to announce his two-year contract extension with the club.
The keeper explained how he’s found a new hobby in fishing, and how he’s trialling the sport to keep him busy over the summer. When quizzed over the biggest fish he’s ever caught, the keeper replied: “Nothing but…”, then saying: “I caught a swan the other day…the only swan on the lake and I caught it!”
“God’s honest truth on the Bible, I caught a swan! I played with it for a bit, trying to reel it in then the line snapped and off it went. “It put up a fight, trust me. I saw it yesterday to be fair, and it left me alone.”
