A Lincoln tea room has been shortlisted for a county-wide award based on its food and drink offering.
Henry’s Tea Room, located above Ruddocks on the High Street, has been shortlisted for Tea Room of the Year under the Select Lincolnshire Food & Drink Awards.
The tea room took the place of the old shop store rooms when the building was refurbished three years ago.
Tracy Laws, the manager of Henry’s Tea Room, said: “It’s a massive achievement and we are so proud of what we do. We really do care about what we serve to customers, and value their opinions massively, so we are led very much by our customers and what they like.
“To get this means the judges got the feel that we love the place and that we put our hearts and souls into it.”
She also says she hopes this nomination will positively impact the business.
“I would like the people that don’t know we are here to recognise us, as we still get people coming in every day who didn’t even know we were here.
“I also think this nomination acts as a thank you to our customers to say that their loyalty has brought us this, and they can be proud of what we’ve achieved as well.”
The business takes pride in almost all of its food being homemade; with pastries, scones, quiches, soups, cakes and afternoon teas all on the menu. Those that are not homemade are sourced from a local supplier.
Tracy added: “They produce good quality things and as independent businesses, they’re in the same boat as us, so if we all support each other we can give something back to Lincoln.”
The awards ceremony for the Select Lincolnshire Food & Drink Awards will take place on October 27 at the Lincolnshire Showground.
