The highly anticipated Wii U game Star Fox Zero was set to be released for the holiday season, but it’s been announced that the game has been pushed back.

The games producer, Shigeru Miyamoto, announced through the Wii U Facebook page that the game’s release date has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2016.

His reasoning is that, even though the game is technically ready for release, the team behind it feel that it still needs some polishing to make it a game that the fans will appreciate.

Mr Miyamoto said: “Star Fox Zero is going to bring new game play and experiences that take it far beyond the framework established by Star Fox 64.

“All the members of the development team are doing our best so that the final product will not betray your expectations.”

Star Fox is one of Nintendo’s lesser-known and less appreciated franchises, but there has been a lot of hype behind the release to this Wii U title.
