Lincoln’s Waterside Shopping Centre held its annual Student Lock-In last Tuesday. Shops such as New Look and Topshop kept their doors open till late showcasing some fantastic student only deals.
H&M and River Island were also popular stores that had discounts of up to 30% available for students. The discounts covered everything, from clothes to shoes, even accessories such as bags and jewellery.
The Student Lock-In is an after-hours shopping event for students, created and run by student marketing company Total Students. It has been held at numerous shopping centres across the country since its first event in 2010. Many popular stores take part and offer special deals for the students of that particular city.
This year’s Lincoln Student Lock – In was a massive success, with large numbers of students flocking to the shopping centre. There was even a small stand of clothes by The Only Way Is Essex star Lydia Bright’s clothing store, Bella Sorella, which proved to be massively popular amongst students.
Laura Callaghan, a second year student at the University, praised the Lock-In, saying: “I think the student lock-in was great, I wish they did it more often!”
“I bought so many clothes for a really reasonable price and Waterside also gave out free Body Shop gift sets to those that spent over forty pounds. I’ll definitely be going to the next one.”
She was not the only student to sing its praises. Harriet Stevenson, also a second year student, said that despite how busy it was and the length of the queues “it was completely worth it for the deals you got”.
If you missed your chance this year, fear not, the Lock-In will be back at the same time next year, with just as many good deals guaranteed.
