Renowned author and University of Lincoln honorary graduate Colin Dexter has died at the age of 86.
He was best known for writing the Inspector Morse books, which were later turned into the long-running ITV series of the same name.
He was awarded the OBE for services to literature in 2000.
He grew up in Stamford, and in 2011 became an honorary graduate at the University of Lincoln.
In a tweet, the University of Lincoln said: “Sad to hear of the death of author Colin Dexter, honorary graduate of our University. Condolences go to his family, friends and many fans”.
