Shakira Martin has been re-elected as President of the National Union of Students (NUS), it has been announced.
Martin won the position for a second term following a vote by delegates at this year’s National Conference in Glasgow.
Commenting on the result, Martin said she was ‘honoured and humbled’ to be re-elected for a second term.
“I was elected to listen, learn and lead, now it’s time to get real about what that means both for all forms of education, and what it means for NUS,” she said.
The two other candidates for the position were Momin Saqib and Sahaya James.
Martin’s second term as NUS President will begin on 1 July 2018.
