Conor McGrandles has praised his teammates for the fight they showed to come from behind to beat Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night.

The Imps came from a goal behind to beat bottom of the table Wigan Athletic 2-1 at the LNER Stadium, and McGrandles believes that it was an important win for the side.

Wigan took the lead in the 54th minute through a deflected Kal Naismith effort. However, an emphatic free-kick from Jorge Grant made the scores level, before Tom Hopper sealed the three points left.

On the win against Wigan Athletic

The 25-year-old, who has become a regular in Michael Appleton’s line-up after joining the club in the summer transfer window, was pleased with the performance against the Latics.

“I think it was a lot better performance than against Accrington and Swindon,” he said.

“Even though we weren’t quite at it, I think it was a better performance, especially when we went 1-0 down.”

The ability to come from behind impressed the Scotsman, saying: “It showed a different side of us as well, to kind of react and come back from behind, so I think that was another test that we managed to get past and show a different side to us.”

Eagerness to Score His First Goal

The midfielder had a great chance from the edge of the area in Tuesday’s victory. While it failed to find the back of the net, he is eager to register is first goal for the Imps.

He said: “I’ve had so many great chances, I just can’t score at the minute!

“I’m really due one. It’s something that I am working on, [trying] to get in the positions.

“I just probably need to be a bit more composed, or maybe not as composed, and just let the shots go a bit earlier.

“But yeah, I’m quite frustrated that I’ve not scored, but I think if I keep getting in those positions it will come.”
