Lincoln City’s search for a new manager has come to an end with the appointment of Mark Kennedy as the club’s new head coach.
Kennedy joins the Imps on a four-year contract from Birmingham City, where he was assistant head coach under Lee Bowyer. He has also spent time with Ipswich Town, Manchester City and Wolves over the past ten years.
The former Republic of Ireland international had a successful playing career, appearing for Liverpool and Millwall amongst other teams, amassing over 466 senior appearances.
Lincoln City chairman Clive Nates said: “Over the course of many hours of interviews, we have been hugely impressed by Mark’s knowledge, energy, drive and passion.”
The Imps’ chairman also stated, “He impressed us with his desire to improve and develop players while creating an aggressive, attacking style of play”
He joins the League One side following the departure of Michael Appleton, who left after three seasons with the club.
Kennedy’s appointment puts an end to speculation about a potential new Imps’ boss, which saw Shamrock Rovers’ manager Stephen Bradley linked.
