Lincoln City Head Coach, Mark Kennedy, wants to sign at least two more players before the summer transfer window shuts at the end of August.

Speaking to the media ahead of Lincoln’s fixture against Forest Green this Saturday, the Irish Coach said: “We would like at least two more (signings). Our numbers sometimes depend on other situations and we can’t have 25 players in the building.

“Sometimes things change, if somebody comes in and bids £3 million for Regan Poole, I will consider it. I don’t want to lose him, but things like that can open up avenues for other situations. But we are not planning on losing our best players”.

In welcome news for Imps fans this morning, Lincoln signed 24-year-old winger Jordon Garrick from Swansea City on a season-long loan move.

Kennedy was pleased to get the deal over the line finally. He said: “We’ve been after him for some time, we put a lot of work into it. I’m relieved for everybody at the club and I’m pleased for Jordon as well.

“He can play anywhere across the frontline, very quick and direct. Will cause a lot of problems and gives us the flexibility to change our system”.

Garrick has enjoyed fruitful loan spells at League One clubs Swindon Town and Plymouth Argyle. Giving him a degree of league experience that the Imps Head Coach will be keen to take advantage of. He added: “To get somebody like Jordon, with his ability, his age and the number of games he has got under his belt is quite unique.

“He is ready to be considered for Saturday. I think he is low on minutes, so we have to be mindful and manage that. But he is definitely available for selection”.

On the challenge of newly promoted side Forest Green coming to the LNER Stadium on Saturday, Kennedy spoke positively about the Gloucestershire based team. He said: “We are expecting a really tough game. I think Forest Green are a team we can expect to do really well this year.

“And as you’ve seen with Exeter, with some people thinking they’ve only just come up from League Two, but as you’ve seen on the day, and what has happened since then, it also looks like a really good point”.

Since Lincoln City opened their season at home to Exeter, the Grecians have scored 11 goals in two games. Beating Port Vale 4-0 in the league and Cheltenham 7-0 in the Carabao Cup First Round. And what was at first a slightly disappointing opening game draw for the Imps, looks to be a good result.

Also speaking ahead of the Forest Green fixture, was Imps goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.

With two clean sheets in three games, the Brighton loanee has impressed so far. On his season so far Rushworth said: “I’m really pleased with how we started. You can’t really ask for much more as a goalkeeper. I haven’t had too much to do in terms of shots, but the defenders and the rest of the team have really helped me out.

“The 3-0 win was a perfect performance, it gave us confidence and shows we can get the goals. Now we just need to replicate that in the league on Saturday”.

Along with Rushworth, the Imps have Jordan Wright as another talented goalkeeping option. Speaking on the competition between the two, Rushworth said: “I love the competition, it’s just going to make us better. We both understand that being a goalkeeper is a tough situation, as only one of us can play.

“He supports me, and knows that if I have a tough run of games then I won’t be in the team. Then I’ll support him. I know that I have to be on it in training, otherwise I won’t be playing every week. It’s a healthy competition and it’s going to make us better and better”.
