Lincoln United have drawn Northern Premier League Premier Division side Worksop Town in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round.

After an impressive upset victory over Kidsgrove Athletic at the weekend, The Whites face an even tougher challenge in the next round.

Worksop sit in the seventh tier of the English football pyramid, two tiers above Lincoln and one tier above the first round opposition, Kidsgrove.

Lincoln United Manager Chris Funnell spoke to LincSport after the draw.

He said: “As you get further into the competition you’re going to come up against very good teams higher in the pyramid and Worksop are exactly that.”

Having upset the favourites in the First Qualifying Round, Lincoln would be hoping for more of the same in the second round.

Chris said: “We’ll have to be at our best to get something out of the match but we had to be at our best on Saturday too, against Kidsgrove.”

The fixture will take place on Saturday, 16th September at Ashby Avenue.

Post-match on Saturday, Chris hoped for a home draw, and his wish was granted.

He added: “It’d be great to get a nice crowd through the gate and with us having nothing to lose, we’ll give it our best to cause another upset.”
