Ethan Hamilton celebrates his second Lincoln City goal.

Lincoln City midfielder Ethan Hamilton spoke to the media ahead of the visit of Charlton Athletic in SkyBet League One.

Looking back on the win against Fleetwood on Saturday, he said: “I’m pleased with our performance, it’s always difficult at Fleetwood.

“I think we had good bits of play, and Alex Mitchell’s goal helped settle nerves. But it was a good team performance and I think we pulled together well.

“We all played quite well in the first half, and in the second we did what we’ve done well all season and what they did particularly well with last season before I joined. Defensively we’re resilient and I think we showed that in the second half.”

Lincoln have had their fair share of injuries this season, particularly in attack with the current absence of Ben House and Tyler Walker, and summer signing Jack Vale making his way into the travelling squad for the first time since putting pen to paper due to injury.

Hamilton said: “I feel fit, the club do everything for you on that side (gym, cardio fitness), but I feel good, strong, and long may it continue.

The Scot was also asked about his new team-mates, and noticeably his new head-coach, Tom Shaw. He said: “really enjoy playing with [Ethan Erhahon], he’s super talented.”

Adding: “Ali [Smith] and Teddy [Bishop] can play in that midfield position too and they did brilliantly on Saturday. I’m really enjoying playing with everybody, they’re all really down-to-earth and hard working.

“I’ve been enjoying my football, there’s some talented players here too. When you first join a club, it always takes time to settle in.

“I really enjoyed playing under Kennedy, but Tom coming in is a continuation and familiarity for us, but we have all pulled together and I’m looking forward to playing Charlton.”

Lincoln play an in-form Charlton side tomorrow night, who have a familiar face at the helm in Michael Appleton. Hamilton said: “I’ve played games against Appleton’s teams a few times, we’ve done a due diligence on him, but we’ll have a game plan looking at how he plays.

The visit of Michael Appleton’s Charlton will be Tom Shaw’s first home game in interim charge.

“We approach every game as we have, we’re looking forward to it under the lights on a Tuesday night. We’re all looking forward to it.

“The lads are feeling good, we’ve all pulled together. We go into every game with a game plan and try to execute that on the night and that’s what we look to do tomorrow.”

A win for either side tomorrow can see them jump to seventh in the league, dependent on other results.
