Lincoln City Match Preview

Lincoln City travel to East London on Tuesday night as they face newly promoted Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road.

The Imps recorded their only win of September at the weekend after comfortably beating Cheltenham Town 2-0 thanks to two goals by Lasse Sorensen.
A Jack Marriott goal saw The O’s come out with no points at the weekend, losing 1:0 to Fleetwood Town.

The win at the weekend saw Lincoln climb to 10th place in SkyBet League One, with Orient four points behind in 16th.

Opposition: Leyton Orient FC:

Leyton Orient haven’t been in the third tier of English football since the 2014/15 season. Since then, The O’s have seen themselves relegated to the National League before a four-year spell in League Two.

Orient won the league by six points last season, and had automatic promotion confirmed in the middle of April.

Leyton Orient have had a mediocre start to the season, with just three wins and two draws in their first 10 games. Two of their three wins have come on home soil, beating Shrewsbury and Cambridge respectively. A trip to Devon saw Orient win their third game of the season, beating play-off hopefuls Exeter City 1-2.

Manager Richie Wellens will be looking to keep his sides home record consistent, losing only once to League One giants Portsmouth.

Team News:

The Imps remain without forwards Tyler Walker, Ben House and Jack Vale who are all out with substantial long-term injuries. With them is defender Lewis Montsma who is still out with an ACL injury.

Danny Mandroiu returned to action at the weekend, playing 30 minutes. Manager Mark Kennedy has said Mandroiu will have discussions with the physio to see how long he can play for, and will be monitored in that respect.

Richie Wellens has named an unchanged 11 for the last four games, so we may expect to see an unchanged 11 for tomorrow’s game, too. Orient will be forced to play without midfielder Ethan Galbraith, who received two yellow cards in added time after coming on against Fleetwood, leading to a one match suspension.

Head-to-Head:

The game tomorrow will be the 60th match between the two sides, the first of which dating back to September 1905, where Lincoln lost 3-2.

Lincoln have been the least successful of the two teams through the years, winning 19 and losing 22.

The last meeting was in April 2006, where the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in League Two action.

The last three meetings have all resulted in 1-1 draws, could we see the same result for a fourth successive match?

Played for Both:

Two players currently at Leyton Orient were at Lincoln City directly before. Theo Archibald spent one full season at Lincoln, playing just seven games before being loaned out to The O’s. He has since spent a loan spell in East London, before moving permanently before the start of the 2022/23 season, where he has scored six goals in 40 games.

Another is Max Sanders. Sanders joined Lincoln in February 2021, and went on to play 57 games over a two-and-a-half-year period. Max Sanders was not named in Lincoln City’s list of retained players in May 2023, and he left the club on a free transfer. He has played just two games for Leyton Orient so far this season.
