Lindum Hockey players celebrating in a huddle.

Lindum Hockey’s player-coach Matt Bell spoke to LincSport after the Men’s 1st team beat Beeston Hockey Club to stretch their unbeaten run to 30 games.

Matt said: “I didn’t realise it was 30 games until this week.” And added: “It’s a massive achievement, but it puts a target on our back for other teams.”

Lindum sit top of the England Hockey Conference North, as the only unbeaten side in the division. Six wins and one draw from their opening seven games has put them on 19 points, a single point above rivals Doncaster Hockey Club.

Matt said: “Everyone wants to take points of us now.”

Combined over the past three seasons, Lindum have put together a remarkable stretch of 30 games unbeaten in the league, leading them to promotion last campaign.

He added: “So far, so good at managing the pressure and expectation of it. We’re enjoying it while it lasts.”

Lindum beat Beeston 4-1 on Sunday, November 12th. Matt was very happy with the result, saying: “The control we had, because Beeston are a solid club, tells us how much we’ve come on.”

This season’s club top-scorer Ben Read scored a brace on the day, in a role that Matt described as important. Ben has joined Lindum Men 1st team’s leadership group this season and the player-coach is happy with his work so far.

Lindum host Brooklands MU 2nds on Sunday, November 19th in another league fixture.

Matt looked ahead to the fixture, and said: “It’s a similar challenge to Beeston, so it’s a nice pair of games to have in a row. We want another home win.”

Brooklands Manchester United’s 1st team play in the division above, but their 2nd team are likely to pose a threat on Sunday. Matt added: “They’ve got some experienced heads and some good young talent.”
