Lincoln City 1-2 Morecambe

Lincoln City travel to East London on Tuesday (November 21) as they prepare to face Leyton Orient.

It’s a match rescheduled due to a medical emergency in the crowd, where a fan of Leyton Orient sadly passed.

The match was abandoned in the 84th minute, with the home side leading 1-0. However, after an extensive investigation by the EFL, the match was confirmed to be replayed in full.

The Imps come into this game after seeing defeat to Stevenage in Michael Skubala’s first game as manager.

Leyton Orient had their game against Port Vale postponed due to international duty, so will have fresher legs coming into this game.

Leyton Orient:

After a four-year spell in League Two, Leyton Orient saw themselves promoted, and won the title by six points in the process.

Richie Wellens’ side currently sit 13th in the division, three points behind the visitors. In their first 16 games, The O’s have won five, drawn five and lost six.

They have shared the points home and away this year, with ten points coming from Brisbane Road, and ten points coming on their travels.

Team News:

Jack Vale was taken off with an injury against Stevenage.

However, Skubala confirmed that the substitution was due to precaution, and the forward has been involved in training since. He will have one last check on Tuesday morning, before the team travel south, to decide whether he can take part or not.

Teddy Bishop, Sean Roughan, Ben House and Lewis Montsma all remain out of action, whilst being treated for their respected injuries.

As for Orient, midfielder and former Imp Max Sanders returned to action against Oxford following an injury, and so is expected to be named smongst the substitutes, unable to take the place of the in-form Idris El Mizouni,

Head-to-Head:

This game will be the 61st match between the two sides (including the abandoned one), the first of which dating back to September 1905, where Lincoln lost 3-2.

Before this season, the last meeting was in April 2006, where the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in League Two action.

Played for Both:

Two players currently at Leyton Orient were at Lincoln City directly before. Theo Archibald spent one full season at Lincoln, playing just seven games before being loaned out to The O’s.

He has since spent a loan spell in East London, before moving permanently before the start of the 2022/23 season, where he has scored six goals in 40 games.

Another is Max Sanders. Sanders joined Lincoln in February 2021, and went on to play 57 games over a two-and-a-half-year period.

Max Sanders was not named in Lincoln City’s list of retained players in May 2023, and he left the club on a free transfer. He has played just two games for Leyton Orient so far this season.
