The University of Lincoln women’s hockey 1st team heavily beat the University of Leicester’s 1st team in the Women’s Midlands Tier 3 division.
At the University of Lincoln Sports Centre, Lincoln started rapidly, eventually winning the game 7-0 despite Leicester, having four penalty corners.
First-Half:
Lincoln got off to a rapid start, making it 1-0 in just the 3rd minute thanks to a brilliant solo goal by their Darcy Davies, who knocked it past a Leicester defender before finding the goal.
Lincoln had a good shot saved from a penalty corner not long after taking the lead, but a close-range goal from Grace O’Reilly doubled their advantage in the 20th minute.
Just two minutes later, Lincoln made it 3-0, with Bea Rose finding the bottom corner, asserting the home side’s dominance on the game.
In the 27th minute, Lincoln made it four, with their Davies getting her second goal of the game, from close range, after a good spell of play by the Swans.
Leicester received their first of four penalty corners in six minutes in the 29th minute. However, a wild shot from the first meant they did not take advantage.
They received their second in the 31st minute, however some scrappy play led to a Lincoln free hit.
Their final two both came in the 35th minute. One resulted in a good save from the Lincoln keeper, while the second was fumbled by Leicester and Lincoln took possession from them on the brink of half-time.
Second-Half:
The second half was not quite so eventful. Lincoln’s Amber Scott made it 5-0 in the 51st minute from a Penalty corner.
O’Reilly then bundled it in for Lincoln in the 60th minute to make it 6.
Lincoln rounded off their dominant day with a penalty corner in the 66th minute, with a good shot from Scott adding her second and making it 7-0 with not long to go until full time.

It was a truly dominant display from Lincoln, securing an emphatic victory that never looked in doubt from very early on.
