Lincoln United fell at the final hurdle in the Isuzu FA Vase, losing on penalties in the semi-finals.

Their dream of a walking out under the famous Wembley Stadium arch was dashed as Romford won 10-9 in the shootout after the two-legged affair finished 2-2.

Manager Chris Funnell:

The Whites’ boss Funnell dissected the goalless draw, saying he was “proud” of his team’s effort in a club record FA Vase run.

He said Romford were likely the better team in a game of “fine margins” that played out in front of more than 1,400.

Goalkeeper Jack Steggles:

United shot-stopper discussed the swirling wind that affected the game at Ashby Avenue, the mentality of a penalty shootout and a “great” run to the semi-finals.
