After eight summer signings, Lincoln United could potentially bring in one more ahead of the upcoming season.
Manager Scott Hellewell revealed in an interview to The Linc, that The Whites were looking to potentially add a goalkeeper to their squad.
He said: “There might be another goalkeeper coming in to challenge Jack Steggles a little bit, we need to have a conversation there.”
Young shot-stopper Josh Wilson, who made a handful of appearances last season, was among the nine players released by The Whites in their annual retained list, leaving number one Steggles and back-up Phil McGann as the club’s two ‘keepers.
The former Winterton Rangers manager, Hellewell, added: “We’ve not spoken to anybody else. If someone pops up who I think will improve us within budget, then I think there is a conversation to be had, but then you always get a bit of a silly season when the season starts. When people aren’t playing who want to be, there can be a little bit of movement there.
“But, overall we are happy with what we have got. We’ve got good firepower, we’ve got good midfielders, and I think defensively we are sound.”
Lincoln have added a plethora of players to their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign. Experienced striker Gregg Smith was the first, before defensive duo Henry Moore and Tom Hipwell were announced. Ex-Winterton midfielder Scott Matthews, former Gainsborough Trinity man Jaime Ture, right-sided player Tristian Drummond and Salford City academy product Adam Barthram all followed.
Assistant manager Paul Grimes was the last to be announced, as it was confirmed that he would continue playing alongside his off-field role.
The campaign gets underway on Saturday, July 27, after The Whites finish their seven game pre-season schedule.
The first game of pre-season for Hellewell’s side is Tuesday, July 2, as they travel north to face Scunthorpe-based Appleby Frodingham.
