Michael Skubala has reflected on how his Lincoln City side have faired so far this season.

His comments came after the Imps claimed a point in a lacklustre goalless draw with Wigan Athletic.

In the first six Lincoln City league matches of the 2024/25 season, the Imps have won three, drawn two and lost one.

Draws to Peterborough United (1-1) and Wigan (0-0) followed a home loss to Barnsley (1-2), and wins against Stevenage (0-1), Mansfield Town (4-1) and on the opening day against Burton Albion (2-3).

Sitting on 11 points, City find themselves sixth and in the play-offs, just five points off league leaders Wrexham, with a game in hand.

Speaking to The Linc, Skubala said: “We have had an okay start, a good start. I think we look back at the games we’ve played, and there have probably been moments where I thought we could have won, but it’s consistency doing it.”

Lincoln had to settle for a point on Saturday, unable to break the deadlock against a determined Wigan side.

Reviewing the performance of the players against the Latics, the Lincoln City boss said: “We need to do today’s second-half over 90 minutes.”

The results so far cannot all be put down completely to performance, with new recruitments taking time to gel into the squad.

Lincoln City made 14 signings in the summer, including the addition of three goalkeepers, and signings of regular starters Tom Bayliss and Tendayi Darikwa.

“That’s what you get with a new group sometimes, when players are trying to work their way into the season.” Skubala added.

Next up for the Imps is a trip to Cambridgeshire, as they face bottom of the league Cambridge United, who are yet to register their first win of the term.

Overall, City fans can be happy with the start they have had to the campaign. Despite sitting in a good position this early on in the season, there is still a lot of time for the squad to do, which Skubala sees himself.

He said: “I am happy with the start, but we have still got loads of work to do.”
