Lindum Hockey

The wait for Lindum Hockey’s first win of the season continues, as they lose 4-3 to the University of Nottingham.

The score was 4-1 at the end of the third quarter, with the Lincoln-based side bringing back two goals in the final period of the game, just short of what they needed to secure any reward for their efforts.

Misery in the First-Half:

The first-half was a tough watch for the Yellow Submarine as they saw themselves 3-0 down at half time.

The first goal was scored in the 11th minute by Nottingham’s Jack Webb, who snuck the ball in at the back post after an attack down the left side of the pitch. By the end of the first quarter, Lindum had struggled to keep the ball at all, with Nottingham keeping possession consistently.

Coming into the second quarter, Nottingham fumbled a penalty corner in the 24th minute, denying them their second goal of the game. But, their next two goals came just minutes later, with William Dibiase and Webb both managing to get one past Lindum’s ‘keeper.

During the closing minutes of the quarter, Nottingham’s Webb and Lindum’s Jacob Barnes were both green carded in separate incidents.

Lindum had just a sole point at the start of the afternoon’s game, while the visiting Nottingham had won their last two games following a rocky start to the campaign.

A New Hope in the Third Quarter:

An early goal in the 38th minute was met with cheers by the Lindum supporters, as Harry Antill pulled one back. A stabbed the ball home as it came across the face of Nottingham’s net.

However, short corner troubles continued for the hosts. Back-to-back penalty corners were awarded to Lindum minutes after their goal, with both shots being blocked by the defence.

The next few minutes involved a lot of tussling between the two sides until Oliver King slapped a powerful shot into the net for Nottingham in the 48th minute.

Following this, it was penalty taking mania yet again, with Nottingham having four back-to-back penalties awarded to them, all of which failing to turn into goals.

A Final Quarter Throwdown:

Lindum seemed to come into the final quarter a new team, as Rob Johnstone and Jack Robson scored two goals in an effort to catch the Nottingham team.

Despite the visitors being down a man, as Luis Cuttle was yellow carded in the 57th minute, Nottingham managed to hold onto the win.

Lindum ran out of time to score a last-minute leveller, after Robson netted with 69 minutes on the clock. The search for their first win of the season goes on, with a weekend off to recharge the batteries at the end of October.
