Lincoln City look to make it back-to-back home wins on Tuesday night, as they host Northampton Town in SkyBet League One action.
The Imps come into the game with confidence behind them following a 2-1 win over Stockport County at the LNER Stadium on Saturday, thanks to goals from Ben House and Bailey Cadamarteri. It ended City’s run of two consecutive defeats.
Opposition: Northampton Town
Jon Brady’s side currently sit 17th in League One, five points clear of the drop zone after the first 12 games. The Cobblers are unbeaten in all competitions since October 4, however, when they lost 4-1 to high-flying Wrexham.
In League One, Northampton have since beaten Leyton Orient and Crawley, as well as a 1-1 draw to Stockport.
Team News:
Michael Skubala confirmed on Saturday that striker Jovon Makama is “really close” on his return following an injury picked up against Leyton Orient in the start of October.
Although, midfielder Ethan Erhahon was forced off early on against Stockport on Saturday, leading to a real worry for Skubala. The Imps manager has since confirmed that he will not be available for selection against Northampton, with results of a scan yet to be revealed.
Reeco Hackett played 80 minutes on Saturday, so will be assessed again before it is decided whether he can play on Tuesday night. The St. Lucian international is still building up his minutes after an extended time on the treatment table.
As for Northampton, boss Brady will be without Luke Mbete, Patrick Brough, Ali Koiki, and Callum Morton, who have all been sidelined with long-term injuries.
Head-to-Head:
Lincoln have won more games than Northampton in all meetings, but draws have been the favoured result. Over the 59 matches played between the two sides, first dating back to 1961, there have been 26 draws, as well as 16 Northampton wins and 17 Imps wins.
The first game was a 2-2 draw in Division Three, in September 1961.
The most recent result between the two sides was a 2-1 win for Northampton in December 2023 at Sincil Bank, thanks to goals from John Guthrie and Kieron Bowie, despite a late consolation from TJ Eyoma. Paudie O’Connor was shown red card in the match for violent conduct.
Played for Both:
Current Northampton loanee Callum Morton spent a spell at Lincoln between 2020 and 2021, where he played 17 games, netting twice for the Imps. Morton’s spell at the Imps was hindered by a shoulder injury, which saw him ruled out between September and March.
Another Cobblers player to have a spell at City is left-back Patrick Brough, who spent half a season out on loan at Lincoln City in 2016, signing in January of that year. Brough only made four appearances for the Imps and is currently sidelined for Northampton.
