Megan Panther, Communications and PR Coordinator at YMCA Lincolnshire, speaking on the challenges when taking part in the event, said: “I don’t know if people do sleep through the night, obviously it’s a hard challenge, it’s braving the cold.”
It’s uncomfortable on the floor, but unfortunately, that’s the reality for a lot of people in Lincolnshire… you often find a lot of people wrapped up ready for bed by 9pm.”
Sleep Easy 2024 saw 40 people attend the event to raise funds for one of the YMCA’s housing projects, Sheridan House, Lincoln. Converting it from 8 bedrooms with a shared kitchen to 16 apartments. Improving the level of independence of residents living in shelters.
This year’s project is aiming to raise £15 thousand, which is all going straight to help develop the organisation’s shelters and housing as well as various activities that the YMCA have across Lincolnshire.
YMCA, over the last ten years, has seen over 7,000 people partake in the event, raising over £1.5 million in aid of homelessness prevention and support.
Pre-order tickets to book your pitch for the event are currently available for £10. Be ready with cardboard and sleeping bags in hand for March 7.
