Michael Skubala revelled in a comfortable Lincoln City victory over Reading, with goals either side of the break enough for the three points.

The Imps head coach said: “We were great, I thought more than anything we could have got four, or five. But, the professional job, take the three points and move on.

“We wanted to start fast and aggressively. We wanted to take the game to them as always, and I think we did that really well.

“Our press was great, we got 1-0 up and they couldn’t cope with us when we got after them a little bit.

“The sending off changed the game, because when you’re playing against 10 men, it might sound easy, but you have to do a real professional job. You have to make sure you’re good with the ball, and then wait for the right moments and I thought second-half we did that really well.”

Bailey Cadamarteri’s good form continues:

Skubala said: “Bailey’s getting better and better outside the box. He’s scoring good goals and he gets on the end of things which is really, really pleasing, but I thought what was most pleasing about his game today was the way he pressed with Ben House in the first 15 minutes which shows his tactical understanding is improving.”

Reeco Hackett added the second after the break, with Reading down the 10 men by then.

Reading penalty shout:

Reading were aggrieved when a penalty appeal did not go their way. And, Lincoln boss Skubala agreed with the visitors’ shouts, which the referee ignored.

He said: “I thought it was a penalty. I haven’t seen it back, but in the moment I thought it was a penalty. So, I think we got away with one there.”

Busy festive period ahead:

Lincoln now head into the busy festive period, with two away games away from the LNER Stadium before Steve Evans and Rotherham United visit the Imps on New Year’s Day.

Skubala gave a big picture view on City’s recent form, and said: “We’ve just got to pick up points. And, when you look at the games we’ve played this season, we haven’t picked up the points we’ve wanted to recently, but we’ve been beat by Wrexham and some top, top teams up there.

“But, then there’s a couple of disappointing performance. I can think of Rotherham and Crawley away, but other than that, we’ve been in every game, we could’ve won every game.

“And, that is where we keep growing. We keep trying to put complete performances together and keep moving in the right direction.”
