A Lincoln mum has opened a charity shop to continue her daughter’s legacy.  Stacey Southwell’s daughter Sophie died from medulloblastoma in 2016 when she was 12.

Medulloblastoma is a cancerous brain tumour which mainly affects children and can quickly spread to other areas of the brain and spine.

She has since set up the charity Sophie’s Journey in her name.

Ms Southwell has opened the shop on Newark Road, Lincoln, to support other families struggling to care for children with life-limiting conditions.

Ms Southwell said: “Sophie’s one wish was to make sure that no other families had to go through what we did.

“Now, unfortunately, we can’t offer that; nobody can offer that, so Sophie asked us to create memories for other families.”

She added: “People do not realise that a child not just with cancer but any life-limiting condition is expensive.

“You have got hospital trips, hospital stays, and you’ve got a constant supply of clothes you’re having to pay for, and it all adds up.”

The charity shop is accepting donations in person or online on Vinted.
