Lincolnshire FA have raised a total of £10,000 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) charity.

A partnership between Lincolnshire’s footballing body and the charity began in September 2022 and has now come to an end. Money was raised across the county during that time, from the top tiers all the way to the bottom rungs of Lincolnshire football.

Nick Hanson, Lincolnshire FA CEO, looked back on the achievement and said: “This incredible achievement reflects the dedication of our grassroots football family. Together we’ve raised vital funds for the British Heart Foundation and helped promote awareness of heart health across Lincolnshire.

“A heartfelt thank you to every individual and club who contributed to this remarkable effort.”

Alongside the monetary donations, players from Lincoln City and Scunthorpe United took part in BHF’s RevivR CPR training, learning life saving techniques in 15 minutes.

It helps to raise awareness of the importance of knowing these life-saving skills, as part of the ‘#RestartAHeartMonth’ campaign.

Over the duration of the partnership, Wolds Wanderers Walking Football Team raised nearly £1,000 through a charity raffle.

The ‘50 for 50’ campaign had originally raised an estimated £2,500, but that has climbed to £3,450.

The Grassroots Football Awards raised over £2,300, in the final of the highlighted fundraisers/

Melanie Meik, who is the fundraising manager in the Lincolnshire and Rutland area for the BHF, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Lincolnshire FA and the entire grassroots football community for their unwavering support over the last few years. Raising £10,000 is a phenomenal achievement that will help fund life-saving research and support those living with heart and circulatory diseases.

“The passion and commitment shown by clubs, players, and staff have been truly inspiring, and initiatives like the ’50 for 50′ campaign and RevivR training demonstrate the power of teamwork in making a real difference.”

She extended a thank you to everyone who contributed to what she described as a “remarkable partnership”.

The announced was made by the Lincolnshire FA on Monday, December 9.
