Dom Jefferies bemoaned a lack of cutting edge in the final third, following Lincoln City’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Blackpool.
Despite having 60% of possession in the game, along with 17 shots on goal, the Imps once again lacked the final finish. Goals by Ashley Fletcher and Olly Casey secured the three points for the visitors.
Jefferies said: “It’s obviously tough because we lost the game. On Saturday we won 5-1, the quality of pass and creation all around the pitch was top class.
“Tonight we got in the same areas, but if we just get the final pass and finish right then we can achieve what everyone is here to achieve.”
After some spellbinding play in the first-half, with Ethan Erhahon and Tom Bayliss at the heart, Michael Skubala’s side struggled to find the same flow after the interval.
Jefferies remarked: “In the second-half they completely slowed the game down, especially when they went 2-0 up, and we found it hard to get into a rhythm. But, in the last 10-15 minutes we created a couple of chances which could have been goals on a different day.”

James Collins put the ball in the back of the net with 12 minutes to play, but was denied a second City goal in as many games by the linesman – who flagged for a tight offside.
“I was off [the pitch] at the time, but I’ve heard it was onside. But you can’t blame it, we had plenty of chances throughout the game that we need to take,” Jefferies said.
With less than five days of the winter transfer window to go, Jefferies commented that both Sam Clucas and James Collins are settling in to life at Sincil Bank well.
“They (Collins and Clucas) bring serious quality. Obviously Sam hasn’t played yet, I’m sure he’ll be involved very soon. James, of course, scored on Saturday and tonight he’s causing havoc when he comes on. He has another goal if the linesman rules it onside.”
“But it’s good to have those players in the dressing room. They bring great experience for the younger lads, players like me, to learn off. It’s good they’re here.”
Lincoln City travel to face Wigan Athletic on Saturday, February 1.
