Lindum Hockey‘s 1st team are back in league action this Sunday, facing Durham University after the winter break.
Following a run of successful games towards the start of the Christmas break, preparations for the restart have begun.
Over the break, the team played several friendlies to get back into the swing of things, with positive results showing from their play.
Their most recent success came against Ben Rhydding on January, 19, with a 4-0 win, as well as a 3-2 win against Norwich in another friendly.
Lindum are now looking to change the way they start their games with different strategy plays and the introduction of new players, including newcomer James Beck.
Beck, who joins the team from Sheffield Hallam, will line up in defence. After playing in the friendlies, his performance have proved to be an asset for the team, so it is expected that he will play in the starting line-up for the team as the season goes on.
Willow Mandil has also been promoted into Lindum’s 1st team.

Ahead of their first game, head coach Stuart Cunnington talked about his hopes for the run-in of the season.
Speaking to The Linc, he said: “We have played two friendlies which we have won both of. The performance has been average but, you know, that can happen when you have had some time off. The character was still good, and the performance levels will get there.
“The boys understand what we need to do. It is a big ask but it is certainly not insurmountable it is very achievable, and we go into it with some confidence but, it would be good to win this game on Sunday. It is one of the teams we can catch and if we win that one, we are certainly back into it.”
The Yellow Submarines hope that the second half of their season can continue in the same fashion as they ended the pre-Christmas stretch. After picking up their first two games of the season towards the end of 2024, there is hope that their form can continue to help avoid relegation.
Morale is high and after successful results in their friendlies at the start of this year, the team will hope to remain in the second tier after consecutive promotions.
