Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala was very happy with his team’s performance against Peterborough United.
The 5-1 win against the Posh was the Imps first home win of the new year, ending a drought of victories against their rivals.
The home side dominated the game, as Skubala said: “It was a great performance with and without the ball, magnificent. We really went after them and I think we dominated from start to finish.”
Lincoln swept aside Peterborough as Dom Jeffries, Tom Bayliss, Freddie Draper, and a debut goal for James Collins all wrapped up victory for the home side.
Until this game, Lincoln had failed to beat Peterborough in the last seven meetings between the sides, but a great performance at the LNER Stadium put that behind them.
Debut goal and stunning free-kick:
James Collins was signed from Derby County last week and was substituted on for his debut.
Skubala said: “He’s hugely important, he’s a great leader and he’s going to help everyone grow as players. As you see he wants to score, he wants to finish and he wants to win.”

Tom Bayliss came in for the injured Jack Moylan and scored his first goal of the season, as a stunning freekick arrowed into the top left corner
The Imps head coach said: “He was great, we know his quality, we know what he’s got on the ball and you saw from his free kick what he can bring to this squad in terms of goals, overall an amazing performance.
“I thought we were comfortable, we had the balance of the game and we had momentum, we were comfortable with and without the ball.”
The Imps had a comfortable first-half as they went in after the first 45 minutes 2-0 up, before adding the rest after the break.
“I don’t necessarily think we were holding on, we just went a bit lower to manage the lead and get in at halftime to make a few tweaks and be better in the second half,” Skubala said.
Lincoln have now earned two wins on the bounce and host Blackpool next on the Tuesday, January 28.
Skubala said: “Trying to build momentum in this league is important, if you get on a run it moves you up in the table which is what we want. All focus will now be on Tuesday which is a whole new game.”
