Gainsborough Trinity 1-1 Matlock Town:
Manager Russ Wilcox said it was one point gained for Gainsborough Trinity, rather than two lost as they battled to secure a draw against Matlock Town.
The hosts conceded early on, and managed to get themselves level in the second-half. A late red card looked to tip the game in Matlock’s favour, though Gainsborough held on.
Speaking to The Linc sports reporter Thomas Westcott, the Holy Blues boss said: “When you go 1-0 down after two minutes, and then you lose a man with 10 minutes to left, show the character that we did… the lads stuck together.
“I think we played some nice football at times, which we had to. They’re big and strong.”
Wilcox was happy with a point against Matlock in the context of conceding early once again. He also spoke about the potential for new recruits to his small squad.
