Lincoln United and Newark & Sherwood United shared the points with a goalless stalemate in the Premier Division North.
The visitors nearly broke the deadlock on 39 minutes. Nelson Aideyan had a great opportunity from close range, following a set piece, but he sent the ball just over Whites ‘keeper Jack Steggles’ crossbar.
It was a very stop-start for long periods, with chances few and far between at times.
On 73 minutes, there came a golden opportunity for Scott Hellewell’s Lincoln side, when Jack McMenemy was put through on goal. It was from a wonderful ball slipped past the Highwaymen defence, but the shot was dragged agonisingly wide of the right-hand post.
Then on 80 minutes, Luke White’s right-footed free kick for the away side was superbly tipped around the left-hand post by Steggles.
Then, from a corner kick on 88 minutes, the ball hit the woodwork and a few seconds later the crossbar was rattled again by the home side. Though, the came remained goalless.
As the game tipped over into added time, Newark & Sherwood substitute Wilson dragged the ball across goal and wide of Steggles’ post.
Romaine Graham’s side remain in ninth place and the Whites retain their third spot, with a key clash at home to top of the table Bourne Town in midweek.
