Gainsborough Trinity 2-1 Whitby Town:

Gainsborough Trinity manager Russ Wilcox spoke about a return to winning ways, as his side beat Whitby Town.

Trinity won thanks to goals from Fraser Preston and local lad Lewis Butroid, with Barnsley loanee Charlie Hickingbottom making his debut in place of injured skipper Dylan Cogill and a returning Declan Howe leading the line.

Speaking to The Linc sports editor Jamie Johnson, Wilcox said: “We know it is a long shot [for the play-offs], we are not going to kid ourselves, we’re just going to take it one game at a time and see what develops because they’ll be some more twists and turns.”

The Holy Blues manager celebrated his 61st birthday on the day of the game, and looked ahead to a trip to Bamber Bridge with one eye still on an outside shot of the play-offs.
