Dom Jefferies hailed the game plan and resilience of his Lincoln City teammates following their 4-1 comeback victory over Crawley Town.

Jefferies was awarded Player of the Match for his part in the performance, grabbing a goal and playing a key role in creating another two before he was substituted with 25 minutes remaining.

“We’ve been on a bit of a bad run, so we’re buzzing to get the win tonight,” he said.

Drawing a comparison between the Imps’ previous two results against teams in the drop zone at the LNER Stadium, a 1-1 draw with Cambridge United and a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Burton Albion, City’s number 16 said more energy and a higher tempo made the difference against Rob Elliot’s side.

“Compared to Burton and Cambridge, we had a bit more energy and a bit more fight about us. To go 1-0 down can be a bit deflating, but we didn’t take our foot off the gas and we got four goals.

“It was the game plan (the high tempo of the first half), if you play with that intensity you can blow teams away, it doesn’t matter who it is. But, every game is tough in this division, regardless of opposition, but we just had too much for them.”

Crawley Town took the lead after six minutes through Kamari Doyle, before Michael Skubala’s side responded with three goals in less than 20 minutes.

Jefferies got the assist for James Collins’ equaliser, crossed the ball towards Jovon Makama for the second and then netted the third himself.

The versatile Welshman told The Linc that the fans can take encouragement from the fact that going 1-0 down in the early stages did not derail that game plan.

He said: “Bouncing back and sticking to the game plan shows the fans, and anyone watching, that we’ve got a lot of fight and desire in this team. No matter what the score is, we’ll keep going until the final whistle.”
