A former Lincoln City chairman has penned a book providing a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the club.

Rob Bradley, 74, has written about his experiences on the board at the Imps, promoting fan involvement in the running of football clubs.

He said: “It is a dairy of last season, which was a good one with the chance of the play-offs right up until the last game, but inside that a chance to describe what it is like being a fan involved in the football club.”

Rob was the Lincoln chairman and director during the 2000s, and now sits as the chair of the Red Imps Community Trust supporters club.

He speaks about his experiences and the changes that City have undergone over the past couple of decades in his new book, entitled ‘Imposter’.

'Imposter' is available now, as Rob Bradley offers his reflections on time spent in the Lincoln City boardroom.

He added: “In amongst the matches and everything that went on, I talked about how the club had been transformed from one that was small and struggling to the club that it is now with investors, much bigger crowds, much more professional.

“And, it is about fan involvement in their football club. It discusses how fans involved in a football can go good, bad, or indifferent.

“I have always been an advocate that fans should be involved in their football clubs, so it is putting the case that ordinary fans are the moral owners.”

After his original four-year stint on the Lincoln board, Rob returned to a much-changed Imps 2020.

“It is like a second home for lots and lots of people,” he said. “A friend of mine lost his wife, she was my wife’s best friend, and he was absolutely devastated but football camaraderie helped, going to the football and seeing his friends.”

The book is available online, at Lincoln-based shop Lindum Books, and at the Red Imps Community Trust stall outside the LNER Stadium on matchdays.

Proceeds from the non-for-profit book will go to the Lincoln City Foundation.

  1. Really pleased Rob has written this and I look forward to reading it. Rob has made a major contribution our City and in many other ways in the Birchwood/Hartsholme communities. I was very pleased to vote for him at our City Council meeting as was my late wife Sue to become a Freeman of Lincoln. The last recipient was the late Lord Cormack.
