Michael Skubala says there is not much to do in the summer for Lincoln City, as the transfer window comes into the front of mind.
The Imps head coach reflected on final day defeat to already-promoted Wrexham, who showed a clinical edge to win 2-0 at the LNER Stadium, speaking to The Linc.
Asked what his focuses were heading into the summer, Skubala said: “Trying to keep the players that we want to keep, and if that’s not possible then we have to go into the transfer market and into the movement of players to try and recruit the right players for this group.
“And, then just keep building. As we go into the summer and pre-season, we start to move forward.”
The Lincoln chief said there will not be much work to do over the course of the transfer window, but was sure to note that sometimes there is more to do than it seems.

He said: “I am really pleased, we haven’t got much to do because we have got players with options, players with contract, some players that are not out of contract. There are always people that will move inevitably, and we’ll get offers probably for players.
“Usually there is more to do then you think, but we are in a good place. I think we are in a really good place, they need to rest, recover, and regen, and then we start to develop again.”
Goals change the game in Wrexham defeat:
It was the old story of goals changing games as Wrexham took advantage of missed Lincoln chances to paunch with two second-half goals.
Skubala said: “We were on top, no doubt. We were on top for the first-half, we looked like the team scoring, we came out faster. We were creating half chances, chances, corners, crosses in the box.
“We just couldn’t find the target well enough, and when we did we just didn’t quite put it in the back of the net. I think at 1-0 we go 2-0 and the game is changed.”

“When we came out we didn’t quite start fast enough, we got caught being too open and they had once chance, one goal, then it’s a different story. Like anything, goals change games,” Skubala added.
Another top-half Lincoln City finish:
The Imps finished the season in 11th, securing another top half finish. Skubala was asked if he was happy with the league standing: “I don’t think I am ever happy, that is the challenge,” he said. “The challenge for us is to get into the play-offs, and try and be in and around that, but then you reflect and you look at what is success.”
City missed out on play-off place on the final day last term, but could not replicate their post-Christmas form to mount a late push this time around.
The Lincoln boss continued: “A top half finish for Lincoln City in this League One with how hard it is, is a good finish. Everybody wants to play for something, of course, but we were actually safe 10 games ago.
“We don’t want to be in the jeopardy, so we have actually done a really good job over the course of a season. I think it is one of those things where you reflect and in probably a couple of weeks we think, ‘It was a decent finish’.
“So, I am really proud of the group, really proud of the finish. Now, let’s just keep moving next season.”
We’re do Lincoln city go from here how do we push on to reach our pinnacle of making the play offs or directly promoted we have no multi millionaire like the 2 clubs that finished 1 and 2 this year until football gets on a level playing field in matches we will struggle to meet our goal and haseant Rob Street done brilliantly on loan at Doncaster Rovers so 4 4 2 is certainly the best scenario for next season.
